Steps to building with McArdle Projects
Here’s a breakdown of the process when you build a custom designed home or renovate with McArdle Projects.
1 Call & Site Visit
When you first get in touch with us, we’ll ask some questions to get an understanding of where you’re at and where you want to go.
We’ll arrange a site visit to get a feel for your existing home or piece of land. From the start, we’ll consider energy efficient design ideas suited to your site and discuss your priorities, goals and budget so we can plan a custom home design that suits your lifestyle.
2 Design & Preliminary Drawings
Once you’re ready to move forward, we’ll arrange another site visit with our building designer so we can get all of the ideas onto paper.
By using a builder and designer together we will be mindful of your budget and provide construction insights during the planning stage. We’ll share ideas, examples and product samples for your inspiration and offer some indicative costings at this stage.
3 Planning & Approvals
When you’re happy with the design and layouts, we can take care of the planning requirements for council, including working drawings, soil report, engineering and energy rating. This information will also allow us to provide a detailed cost breakdown.
Allow between 6 and 12 weeks for this process depending on council wait times.
4 Contract
Once the planning approval is received from council, we can finalise an HIA approved contract which is broken down into payment stages so you know what to expect and when.
5 Construction stage
When you’re ready and all the appropriate approvals have come through, we can start building.
First stage will be site preparation and the foundation will be poured. The next stage is wall and roof frames followed by roofing and external wall cladding then we’ll move onto the inside.
6 Completion & Handover
Once complete, we’ll go through a final inspection with you and you’ll be ready to take the keys to move in.
7 Warranty
We provide an initial 12-month warranty period and a further 6-year full structural warranty.
